Position Overview
Roosevelt Elementary is looking for a creative and energetic K-5 Music Teacher to lead our fine arts program. We believe that music is essential to a well-rounded education, and we are seeking an educator who can inspire a lifelong love of music in every student. You will be responsible for providing high-quality music instruction that balances performance, music theory, and cultural appreciation, ensuring our students find their "voice" in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction: Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for grades K-5 that aligns with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Fine Arts.

Performance Leadership: Organize and direct grade-level musical programs, holiday performances, and special campus events throughout the school year.

Instrumental & Vocal Training: Introduce students to a variety of musical elements, including rhythm, melody, and harmony, through the use of instruments, recorders, and vocal practice.

Inclusive Classroom Management: Create a vibrant and inclusive classroom culture that reflects Roosevelt ISD’s "High Standards, No Excuses" philosophy, ensuring all students are actively engaged.

Campus Collaboration: Partner with grade-level teachers to integrate music into core subjects (like Math and Literacy) and participate in campus-wide professional learning communities (PLCs).
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field from an accredited university.

Certification: Valid Texas Educator Certificate in Music (EC-12).

Experience: Previous experience teaching elementary music or directing youth performances is preferred.

Skills: Ability to play piano or guitar for accompaniment; proficiency in using digital music tools and classroom technology to enhance learning.
