Position Overview
Roosevelt Elementary is seeking a dynamic, inquiry-driven 5th Grade Science Teacher to join our dedicated team of educators. In this role, you will be responsible for igniting a passion for discovery in our students as they navigate the final year of their elementary science journey. Your primary goal will be to foster a deep understanding of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) while preparing students for the Grade 5 Science STAAR assessment through hands-on experimentation and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership: Design and implement engaging, lab-based science lessons that cover Earth, Life, and Physical science standards as outlined by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

Data-Driven Instruction: Utilize campus-wide assessment data to identify learning gaps and provide targeted interventions, ensuring every student is prepared for state-wide testing.

Hands-On Learning: Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, facilitating weekly experiments that encourage students to use the scientific method.

Classroom Culture: Build a supportive classroom community rooted in Roosevelt ISD’s "High Standards, No Excuses" philosophy.

Collaboration: Work closely with the K-5 Math and Science instructional coaches to align curriculum and participate in professional learning communities (PLCs).
Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Certification: Valid Texas Educator Certificate with appropriate endorsements for Elementary Science (e.g., Generalist EC-6 or 4-8 Science).

Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the 5th Grade Science TEKS and STAAR assessment blueprints.

Skills: Proficiency in integrating classroom technology (e.g., interactive whiteboards, Google Workspace for Education) to enhance scientific inquiry.
